A 40-year-old Tacoma woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a head-on crash Thursday evening, Jan. 13 when two people had to be extricated from their vehicles in the 26100 block of Military Road South in Kent, near Reith Road on the West Hill.
The crash occurred at about 6:07 p.m. when a Honda Odyssey van, driven by the Tacoma woman, reportedly was southbound on Military Road South, crossed the centerline and collided with a Ford F-250 pickup driven by a 66-year-old Federal Way man, according to a Jan. 17 email from Kent Police Chief Rafael Padilla.
Crews from Puget Sound Fire, South King Fire, Medic One and TriMed Ambulance responded to the collision, according to a Puget Sound Fire tweet.
Paramedics transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening injuries, Padilla said. Paramedics transported the male driver to Valley Medical Center in Renton with minor injuries.
Padilla said it is unknown what caused the vehicle to cross the centerline and the traffic unit is still investigating the collision.
The Tacoma woman was rapidly extricated and resuscitated at the scene while the Federal Way man also was extricated from his vehicle, according to Puget Sound Fire.
