Connect with nature in an urban setting Saturday at the Tukwila Backyard Wildlife Festival.
Now in its 10th year, the festival features all-day fun from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tukwila Community Center, 12424 42nd Ave. S.
Throughout the day, the center will be the home of workshops, presentations, arts and crafts, nature and food booths and live music.
Also starting at 9 a.m. will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at ukwila’s newest certified wildlife habitat, Codiga Park, at 9 a.m. Codiga Park is located at 12535 50th Place S., Tukwila.
Here is the schedule of events:
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Festival at the Community Center. Workshops, presentations and events; arts and crafts and nature booths; live music; kids area; arts and crafts station; and food booths.
10 a.m.: Guided Bird Tour with the Rainier Audubon Society.
11:30 a.m.: Ed Hume – Secrets for Success in Growing Vegetables
1 p.m.: Linda Chalker-Scott – Miracle or Marketing-Do Garden Remedies Really Work?
2 p.m.: Seattle Tilth – Composting At Home
3-5 p.m.: Self-guided tour of local gardens certified as Backyard Wildlife Habitats
