Strong thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening in Kent and the rest of the Western Washington lowlands from Bellingham to Chehalis.
Small hail and wind gusts up to 45 mph are predicted as cold and unstable air streams into the area through Tuesday evening, according to a special weather statement issued at 10:33 a.m. Tuesday by the National Weather Service.
The air mass is cold and unstable and winds aloft contain a good deal of wind shear, according to the statement. That combination supports the formation of rotating thunderstorms that may produce cold-air funnel clouds.
Forecasters predict a high of 45 Tuesday and a low of 34.
