Strong thunderstorms, with lightning strikes and strong gusts, rolled through Kent and Western Washington Thursday afternoon, downing trees and knocking out power to tens of thousands.
The storm cut power and caused minor damage in the path of the storm.
The National Weather Service in Seattle said a wind gust of 50 mph was recorded in the South Sound.
The NWS said there were about 2,500 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes from Lewis County to the Canadian border on Thursday.
