For the Reporter
Goalie Ryan Gilchrist has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the Seattle Thunderbirds, team general manager Russ Farwell announced today.
“We are excited to have Ryan commit to the Thunderbirds,” Farwell said. “He has been improving on a steady pace and is a top prospect to play for our team. We expect him to compete for a spot on our roster next year.”
Gilchrist, 16, plays for the Lloydminster Bobcats in the Alberta AAA Midget Hockey League. Gilchrist has played 906 minutes with the Bobcats and has a 8-5-3 record with a 2.81 goals against average and a .890 save percentage this season.
Gilchrist has taken part in the T-Birds’ last two training camps. It is possible Gilchrist could join the T-Birds for practices once his midget season has ended.
