Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced the team has acquired Adam Kambeitz from the Saskatoon Blades and Andrew Johnson from the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The T-Birds sent a third-round pick in the 2014 Bantam Draft to Saskatoon for Kambeitz and a fourth-round pick in the 2013 Bantam Draft to Moose Jaw for Johnson.

“We are excited to make these additions to our team,” Farwell said. “I believe our team is much better than our current record and we have added both scoring and leadership with this trade.”

Seattle (16-23-1-0) is mired in a 12-game losing streak. The T-Birds return to the ice at 7:05 p.m. Saturday against Victoria at the ShoWare Center.

Kambeitz is a 20-year-old forward who has 21 points this season on nine goals and 13 assists. He has played 300 career games with the Blades and Red Deer Rebels and has 53 goals and 66 assists for 119 points with 316 penalty minutes.

Johnson is an 18-year-old forward who 15 points this season on five goals and 10 assists. He has played 159 games with the Warriors and has 27goals and 41 assists for 68 points with 110 penalty minutes. Johnson was a second round pick, 29th overall, in the 2009 Bantam Draft.

“Due to the overage limit we were forced to release Brendan Rouse,” Farwell said. “It is anticipated Brendan will join the Vancouver Giants. We wish Brendan the best with the Giants.”
