T-Birds’ Theodore selected to play in prospects showcase

Thunderbirds defenseman Shea Theodore has seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points in 32 games this season

Seattle Thunderbirds defenseman Shea Theodore on Wednesday was one of 14 players from the WHL selected to play in the Jan. 16 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game at Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Theodore will be a member of Team Orr coached by Mike McPhee. Theodore will be one of eight players from the WHL on Team Orr that includes: Eric Comrie (Tri-City), Madison Bowey (Kelowna), Seth Jones (Portland), Oliver Bjorkstrand (Portland), Curtis Lazar (Edmonton), Nicolas Petan (Portland) and Hunter Shinkaruk (Medicine Hat).

Theodore, a 17-year-old from Aldergrove, British Columbia, is in his second season with the T-Birds. The 6-foot-2, 173-pound defenseman has seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points in 32 games this season. He was ranked fourth by NHL Central Scouting in their preliminary rankings for first year draft eligible players from the WHL.

The 40 CHL players competing in the game were chosen by the 30 NHL clubs then divided into teams by NHL Central Scouting and include 14 players from the Ontario Hockey League, 14 players from the Western Hockey League, and 12 players from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

On the road again

The T-Birds take on the Spokane Chiefs at 7:05 p.m. Friday at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. They travel to Portland to face the Winterhawks at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Rose Garden before returning home to play the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.

The T-Birds Holiday Ticket Package is back. Twenty-four-ticket and 12-ticket voucher packages for the Thunderbirds are available online.
