The Seattle Thunderbirds defenseman Jared Pelechaty has signed a WHL standard player agreement with the team.
“We are happy to add Jared. He will really help us get through the injuries we have at this time. He has pushed hard to improve his game and we expect him to be ready to play for us at the start of next season,” said T-Birds general manager Russ Farwell. “We also appreciate the understanding of Neepawa on our current situation and are thankful to them for letting Jared join us for five games at this point of the season.”
Pelechaty, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, is playing for the Neepawa Natives in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. He has two goals and four assists for six points in 31 games with the Natives.
Pelechaty attended the T-Birds’ training camp the past two seasons. Pelechaty will wear No. 3 for the T-Birds and be eligible to play in games this week.
The T-Birds host the Kamloops Blazers at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at the ShoWare Center. They travel to Portland to take on the Winterhawks at 7 p.m. Friday, then return home on Saturday for a 7:05 game against the Everett Silvertips.
