The Seattle Thunderbirds scored four power-play goals Saturday night to beat the Everett Silvertips 5-2 at the ShoWare Center.
Seattle (3-3-0-0) next faces the Vancouver Giants on Friday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Vancouver.
Everett (1-4-0-1) opened the scoring on a power-play goal by Tyler Sandhu 7:09 into the first period. Manraj Hayer and Mirco Mueller had the assists for the Silvertips.
Seattle was awarded a penalty shot at the 14:37 mark after an Everett player gloved the puck in his crease. Alexander Delnov made a move to his backhand to try and beat Everett goalie Austin Lotz through his legs but was denied.
Shots on goal after the first period were 17-8 in favor of the Thunderbirds.
Seattle struck on the power play 2:44 into the second period to tie the game 1-1. Shea Theodore received a pass in the slot from Justin Hickman and ripped a snap-shot between the legs of an Everett defender and past Lotz on his glove side.
Everett went ahead 2-1 on Landon Oslanski’s slap shot one-timer from the point with Everett on the power play. Hayer and Josh Winquist were credited with the assists at 7:20 of the second period.
Connor Honey scored his third goal of the season on the power play to tie the game 2-2 at the 14:29 mark of the second. Riley Sheen passed the puck out to Jesse Forsberg high in the slot who slid the puck over to Honey to slot into the back of the net.
Shots on goal for the period were 10-8 in favor of the Thunderbirds, and 27-16 overall after two periods.
The Silvertips switched goalies in between periods, putting Cole Holowenko in net in replace of an injured Lotz.
Alexander Delnov scored 11 seconds into a power play after his shot from the point ricocheted off the post and went in past Holowenko at the 4:08 mark of the third period. Shea Theodore and Riley Sheen assisted on Delnov’s second goal of the season.
Seattle pushed the lead to two goals just thirty seconds later, after Honey received a pass from Jesse Forsberg and then fed Luke Lockhart in the slot who snapped a low shot into the back of the net. The goal came at 4:37 of the third period.
A fourth Thunderbird power-play goal of the evening finished off the scoring at 15:25 of the third period. Shea Theodore scored his second of the game on a wrist shot from the point that beat Holowenko high over his glove. Alexander Delnov assisted on the play for his second point of the game.
Shots on goal ended in favor of Seattle 36-28 overall.
Brandon Glover was in the net for the Thunderbirds, making 34 saves on 36 shots. Glover picked up his third win of season and improves his record to 3-2-0-0.
Holowenko made nine saves on 12 shots for Everett and now sits at 0-1-0-1 on the season.
