State Patrol seeks witnesses to I-5 pellet gun shooting near Kent

Vehicle struck, nobody injured along northbound I-5 Wednesday morning, July 13

The Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses to a pellet gun shooting on northbound Interstate 5 near South 200th Street, just north of Kent.

A driver called 911 at about 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 13 to report their vehicle was shot at, according to the State Patrol.

Once troopers arrived the victim driver explained that a Silver Chevrolet Equinox was tailgating them NB I-5 near South 200th and then pulled along the passenger side of their vehicle and shot what appeared to be a handgun. The right rear passenger window was blown out. Nobody was injured. The victim’s vehicle was a white Mazda CX-5.

The suspect in the Equinox was described by the victim as an African American woman with braided hair. The suspect fled at a high rate of speed after shooting at the vehicle.

Further investigation at the scene led investigators to believe that the gun fired was a pellet gun due to the indents on the vehicle.

Detectives are seeking witnesses to this shooting along with anyone that may have information that can assist in identifying the suspect vehicle and driver. Please contact Detective Sgt. Stacy Moate at Stacy.Moate@wsp.wa.gov.
