State Patrol arrests Kent man for vehicular assault in SR 410 crash

Man, 24, under investigation for DUI in Oct. 21 collision that injured man and three children

The Washington State Patrol arrested a 24-year-old Kent man for investigation of DUI and vehicular assault after his vehicle collided with two other vehicles on Saturday evening, Oct. 21 along State Route 410, east of Enumclaw.

A Bremerton man, 39, and three young children ages 4 to 9, were injured in the crash and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to the State Patrol. All four have since been discharged, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The Kent man was driving westbound near milepost 33 in lane one of one behind another vehicle when he entered the eastbound lanes in an attempt to pass in a no passing zone at a high rate of speed around a blind corner, according to the State Patrol.

The Kent man collided with a vehicle in the eastbound lane carrying the Bremerton man and three children, reentered the westbound lanes and hit another vehicle. All three vehicles came to rest in the westbound lane, according to the State Patrol. The road was closed for 4 hours and 8 minutes.

The State Patrol listed unsafe passing and speed as the cause of the crash and noted that drugs or alcohol were involved.

Paramedics transported the Kent man to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Enumclaw. The driver of the third vehicle and his passenger were not injured.

All three vehicles were totaled.
