Local veterans gathered for the American Legion District 11 Washington State Spring Conference at the American Legion Hall in Kent on Sunday.
Those who attended were, from left: Gary W. Roach, department commander, the American Legion Department of Washington; Chriss R. Moen, American Legion member Post 15, Kent; Debi Lovelace, American Legion member Post 15; Ken Lee, Western Region national vice commander of the American Legion and national executive committee member, Department of Washington; Robert “Bob” Clark, commander, Sons of the American Legion Detachment of Washington State and life member and 10th District vice commander, the American Legion.
Among the topics discussed were: Evergreen Boys and Girls State; children and youth issues; Boys and Girls Scouts; and an oratorical contest for juniors in high schools for scholarships.
The American Legion sponsors and supports these programs for youth in their communities.
District 11 of the American Legion represents 14 American Legion Posts in King County.
Don Whittington, commander, Post 15, Kent, the American Legion, sponsored the spring conference.
