Start cleaning out those closets of gently used coats and warm winter clothing. The Soroptimist of Kent is holding its fourth-annual Coat and Warm Clothing Drive.

The service organization is working in conjunction with the Kent School District, the Kent Fire and Police departments and the City of Kent to collect these items for distribution to the homeless children in the Kent School District.

Last year the club collected 146 coats, 48 hats, 264 mittens and scarves and 302 miscellaneous clothing items.

SI of Kent also had 112 pairs of new socks donated. With the combined efforts of these four agencies, club members are hoping to raise an even higher number of offerings this year.

Between Oct. 1 and Nov. 15, SI of Kent will accept new or gently used warm winter items for Kent students, as well as pairs of socks, all of which can be brought to the drop-off stations listed below.
