Shirtless men punch vehicles in Kent | Police Blotter

Drivers started to call Kent Police on a recent night after two shirtless men took to the streets and started to pound on vehicles with their fists near South 228th Street and Central Avenue North.

Officers arrested one man for investigation of third-degree malicious mischief after he reportedly scratched a car with a knife at about 10:06 p.m. June 10, according to the police report. Other drivers reported that the men pounded on their hoods and windows.

Police also received reports of suspicious subjects outside of the Denny’s restaurant, 1246 Central Ave. N., which turned out to be the same two men.

When officers arrived, they tracked down the men at the Berkeley Heights Apartments, 22804 90th Way S. Witnesses described the men as Pacific Islanders and noted that one man had tattoos on his chest.

Woman punches woman

Police cited a woman at large for investigation of fourth-degree assault after she allegedly punched in the face a woman who had just started to date her former boyfriend.

Officers responded to a call June 10 from a woman outside of the Extended Stay Hotel, 22520 83rd Ave. S., according to the police report. The woman told police she went with a man she had just started to date to meet up with his former girlfriend so that woman could get a few of her belongings out of his vehicle. The man had recently posted bail for the ex-girlfriend at the SCORE jail in Des Moines.

When they all met and were inside the vehicle, a dispute started about where the women were sitting, and the former girlfriend started to punch the woman in the face. A third woman helped the ex-girlfriend pull the woman out of the vehicle.

The man, the ex-girlfriend and her friend then drove off in the vehicle. Officers knew about the ex-girlfriend because of previous police cases. An officer called the woman about the incident, but she hung up.

Wanted man caught

Officers arrested a man for a felony warrant for escape from the state Department of Corrections as well as for investigation of drug possession at about 7:19 p.m. June 8 near the 10600 block of Kent Kangley Road.

An officer on patrol saw the man standing outside a 7-Eleven and recognized him as a man wanted for a felony warrant, according to the police report. The officer called for assistance from more officers because of the felony warrant.

The man saw police and tried to hide. But officers found him hiding behind some nearby bushes. An officer drew his weapon and ordered the man to the ground. The man complied and police handcuffed him.

A search of the man’s backpack turned out ID cards for other people, a glass pipe and a plastic baggie with meth.

Man grabs girlfriend’s hair

Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly grabbed his girlfriend’s hair during a dispute at about 2:14 p.m. June 9 at the Bryson Square Apartments in the 10800 block of Southeast 241st Place.

A witness called 911 about a domestic dispute after seeing a man aggressively pull a woman’s hair and put her in a headlock, according to the police report.

The man told officers his girlfriend became upset because he didn’t text her back the previous day. The woman told police she was upset about not getting a text from her boyfriend because she thought he might be out with another woman.

The boyfriend told officers he grabbed his girlfriend’s hair and she pushed him away.
