The King County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to find out who killed a 16-year-old Des Moines boy whose body was found Sept. 10 in the Green River near Auburn in unincorporated King County.
Detectives are asking for anyone who has information about Juan Carlos Con Guzman’s killing to call the Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3311, according to a news release Monday.
Guzman, who had just started his junior year at Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines, died of of homicidal violence – multiple blunt-and-sharp-force injuries, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Two fisherman were walking along the bank of the river the morning of Sept. 10 in the 12700 block southeast of Green Valley Road when they saw a body in the water and called 911. The King County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit recovered Guzman later that afternoon, according to Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ryan Abbott.
Guzman’s father posted on gofundme.com that his son reportedly had left the house on Sept. 10 at about 2 a.m. without notice. When the family discovered he was gone, the father said he went to the police department and filed a missing person report.
