Drivers along 132nd Avenue Southeast on Kent’s East Hill last Friday had to find alternate routes all day and night after a semi crashed into a ditch and knocked down power lines.
Kent Police and the city Public Works Department closed 132nd Avenue Southeast near Southeast 256th Street from early in the morning until late at night.
“It appears that the semi pulled some power lines down when it went into the ditch in the area of 256th and 132nd Ave SE,” said Kent Police spokesman Jarod Kasner, in a Monday email, about the closure of the street. “The semi was the only vehicle involved. The truck was fully loaded and had to be unloaded there at the scene, not to mention all the caution with the power lines and getting those cleared up.”

The first 911 call about the accident came in at 8:36 a.m., Kasner said. Kasner didn’t have any details about what caused the semi driver to lose control. There were apparently no injuries.
City Public Works officials and Kent Police sent out emails and tweets on Friday about the road closure.
