A 28-year-old Seattle man faces a second-degree murder charge for allegedly shooting a 41-year-old man on Jan. 7 in Kent over a road-rage incident.
Kent Police found Jovan A. Satterwhite dead with a gunshot wound to his left temple inside a 1986 Buick Regal in the 23500 block of 88th Avenue South. The car was still running and parked off the roadway in some landscaping. Satterwhite, who was in the driver’s seat, died of two gunshot wounds in the late-night attack, according to court documents.
Marcus Bradley Williams is scheduled to be arraigned on the murder charge March 15 at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. He also faces a drive-by-shooting charge for allegedly firing a gun on Jan. 24 at another man in Shoreline, north of Seattle. Williams remained in custody March 9 in the Regional Justice Center with bail denied, according to King County Jail records.
Detectives used video surveillance, cellphone records and witness interviews to reportedly tie Williams to the shooting, according to charging papers. He apparently became upset that Satterwhite’s vehicle cut him off in traffic. He followed Satterwhite’s car after the incident and saw it stopped near the Central Flats Apartments in Kent.
Williams, driving a silver Mazda 3, allegedly fired three shots at the vehicle and sped off at a high rate of speed northbound on 88th Avenue South.
Detectives learned in early February that Williams was out on bail for a hit-and-run felony death in 2019 in Seattle and a first-degree robbery in 2019 in Seattle. He also had convictions for second-degree robbery and third-degree assault.
Detectives discovered that Williams was hit by a DUI driver on Jan. 8 in Seattle, the day after the Kent killing. Williams was driving a 2017 silver Mazda 3. Seattle Police body-worn camera footage shows the Mazda was consistent with the vehicle seen fleeing the scene in Kent on video surveillance. GPS records for the cellphone of Williams put him near the Central Flats Apartments at the time of Satterwhite’s murder.
A picture on the cellphone of Williams showed him in possession of two semi-automatic handguns about 13 minutes prior to the shooting of Satterwhite.
Kent detectives assisted King County Sheriff’s Office detectives in arresting Williams on Feb. 5 on separate felony charges in a Burien assault case when he reportedly tried to strangle a man. A Kent detective attempted to interview Williams but he asked for a lawyer.
