A vehicle struck and killed a 56-year-old Seattle man on the West Hill in Kent after he reportedly stepped into the northbound lanes of Pacific Highway South.
Officers and Puget Sound Fire personnel responded at about 8:22 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26 to the 24400 block of Pacific Highway South after 911 calls about a pedestrian and vehicle collision, according to a Feb. 27 Kent Police news release. The location is just south of Dick’s Drive-In.
Emergency responders found the man still in the roadway. He died at the scene, according to police. Witnesses told officers that they had seen the man step into the northbound lanes.
Initial information gathered at the scene suggests that intoxicants were not a factor, according to police. The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
