Paul Scott, a Public Works accounting manager, is the 2017 City of Kent Employee of the Year.
Hired in 1990, Scott is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and managing the Public Works Department accounting and reporting systems, Kent’s labor agreements and the financial policies of the city. He also trains, supervises, assigns and reviews the work of assigned personnel to assure efficient and effective functioning of the Accounting Services section.
Nominated and selected by his peers, Scott is described as a truly exemplary individual who cares for his staff and everyone he comes in contact with, according to a city media release on Wednesday. His co-workers describe Scott as a great manager, “(having) a very admirable managerial approach in the way he assigns responsibilities and how he works with each member of his staff.”
Scott received the award at an all-employee breakfast in March.
The city’s recognition program honors employees who in the view of their peers, go above and beyond in the areas of performance, attitude, motivation and dedication. Given annually, the Employee of the Year is chosen from more than 600 employees across 10 departments.
