Scenic Hill Elementary staff hosts Carnival University – an afternoon of food, fun and entertainment 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the School, 26025 Woodland Way S..
There will be college-themed carnival games and activities, along with entertainment provided by Scenic Hill students and families. There will be snacks for sale at the Campus Hub.
The event features a raffle with prizes that include a Novara mountain bike and a one night in a family suite at Great Wolf Lodge.
Children 12 years old and under receive five free game tickets and a College Application Passport.
Proceeds from the event support additional funding for educational programs and family involvement events for Scenic Hill students.
There will be a silent auction with items that include a one-day park-hopper passes to Disneyland, two admissions to Wild Waves, Mariners tickets, a party for up to 20 at Jillian’s, dining gift certificates, retail certificates and theater certificates.
Attendees are invited to try a sampling of foods from six of the many cultures represented by Scenic Hill Families.

IGrad school reaches out to former Kent students
Kent School District is partnering with Green River Community College to help students who have not completed high school.
The iGrad – or Individualized Graduation and Diploma Program – allows former students the opportunity to earn a high school diploma, a Washington State diploma or a GED. The program is for former students between the ages of 16 and 21.
The school district will offer high school classes using Web-based software and will provide individual and small group tutoring and counseling services. Green River Community College will offer GED classes at the storefront school, 25668 104th Ave. SE, Kent 98031.
Participating students will also be able to take Washington State High School Diploma classes on the Green River Campus and any other class that Green River offers to prepare them for the world of work. These classes will be free of charge to the students. The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction will provide full funding for all participating students.

Anthony Vincent Aliano from the Kent area has been named to the dean’s list at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales for the spring semester. To make the dean’s list, students must take at least 15 credit hours and maintain a 3.25 grade point average.
