Penny Ackerson arrived by limousine at Daniel Elementary School as family, friends and staff rolled out the red carpet and greet her with flowers for the teacher’s final day recently.
The retiring Ackerson worked in the Kent School District for 43 years, teaching Head Start, kindergarten, first and second grade. She attended Kent schools, from kindergarten to Kent-Meridian High.
Ackerson has enjoyed making a difference in a child’s life by providing them with the opportunity to learn, having seen multiple generations go through her classes.
