Kent Youth and Family Services received a $10,600 check Jan. 6 from the Kent Sunrise Rotary Club to help support the nonprofit group’s mental health services program.
The Sunrise Rotary Club raised the money at its Nov. 6 Harvest for the Community awards dinner and auction.
Club members selected Kent Youth and Family Services to receive the donation partly because counselors meet with children at the schools they attend as well as at the group’s downtown office on Second Avenue and Titus Street.
The Kent Sunrise Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace worldwide. There are about 1.2 million club members in more than 32,000 Rotary clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas.
