A roof partially collapsed at about 8 a.m. Thursday at the Auburn Safeway store, 101 Auburn Way S. As of Friday, the store remained closed.

Nobody was injured by the collapse, according to a Valley Regional Fire Authority tweet. Crews reported the collapse was about 10 feet by 50 feet and occurred in the stocking area. Puget Sound Energy is assisting with restoring utilities.

“The sheetrock ceiling in the backroom of the store failed, and its destruction impacted all utilities in the store,” a Safeway spokesperson said in a Friday email. “An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause.”

The store is expected to be closed for several days, according to city of Auburn officials.

“We are working diligently to reopen the store, and we will provide updates to the community when we have a more specific timeline,” a Safeway spokesperson said. “In the meantime, our pharmacy customers can pick up their prescriptions at any of our Safeway or Albertsons locations, and we also offer free prescription delivery and mail services.”

Because of the closure, city staff worked with other grocery stores in town to coordinate added operating hours and staff to help with increased customer demands.

Here is a list of stores and hours as provided by the city:

* Saar’s Super Saver Foods 24 hours

* Grocery Outlet 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

* Fred Meyer Food & Pharmacy 6 a.m. to midnight until Safeway is back open

* Haggen Food & Pharmacy 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

* Albertsons 5:30 a.m. to midnight

* Walmart Food & Pharmacy 24 Hours

* Auburn’s Main Street Market 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
