Two women who were reported by a witness to have disappeared in the Green River while riding inner tubes Tuesday afternoon near the 14400 block of the Southeast Green Valley Road in Auburn were found safe onshore.
“The women got out on their own,” said John Urquhart, spokesman for the King County Sheriff’s Office, in an email at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday.
A witness who had seen the women inner tubing reported that the two disappeared near a logjam in the river, according to police and fire scanner reports.
King County Sheriff’s Office crews and other rescue crews responded to the incident in an effort to find the women, whose ages are reportedly in the early 20s.
According to police and fire scanner reports, the women were found safe onshore and not injured.
