Singers in fourth grade through college are invited to check out Rainier Youth Choirs during an open rehearsal.

Informal audition appointments also are being scheduled now through Sept. 27 for fall enrollment.

Youths interested in joining one of the three premier choirs can participate in the following rehearsals by contacting RYC in advance, 253-347-0180 or ryc@rainierchoralarts.org.

• Sept. 10, 7-8:30 p.m., experienced soprano, alto, tenor, and bass singers in high school and college.

• Sept. 17, 5:30-7 p.m., experienced treble boys and girls in grades 6 and up.

• Sept. 20, 5-6:30 p.m., for treble singers in grades 4 and up, no training needed.

Rehearsals are held in the choir room behind Cedar Heights Middle School, 19640 SE 272nd, Covington.

“RYC membership grows steadily each year with increasingly higher standards. The entire organization is becoming more family-friendly and professional,” said Leora Schwitters, RYC artistic director and founder. “This year we welcome back music specialist Brad Wills, Kent School District’s 2002 Teacher of the Year, as co-director/accompanist for our entry level choir.

“We are grateful for the leadership of a strong and committed board, supportive parents, and the acumen and vision of Executive Director Shannon Hesketh,” Schwitters said. “Our audiences are expanding as more people become aware that these young people consistently sing great repertoire with high levels of artistry and skill.”

The All Nature Sings 2012-13 RYC season concerts will be: The Heavens are Singing at 3 p.m. Dec. 15; Earth Wind and Fire at 7 p.m. March 23; and Birds, Bees, Flowers and Trees, 3 p.m. June 2 at Kent United Methodist Church.

More fun events also await RYC members and families, including another appearance as Argosy’s Christmas Ship main entertainment Dec. 5.
