The Pride flag will be flown at Kent City Hall on June 14-20 in celebration of diversity and recognition of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) rights movement.
Mayor Dana Ralph declared June as Pride Month in the city of Kent at the June 1 City Council meeting.
“We’re dedicated to building an inclusive city that celebrates our diversity and LGBTQIA+ neighbors, coworkers, friends and family,” Ralph said.
The proclamation includes the statement that many of the residents, students, city employees, and business owners within the city of Kent who contribute to the enrichment of our city are a part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual community.
“The Kent City Council and mayor invites everyone to reflect on ways we all can live and work together with a commitment to mutual respect and understanding and to join us in this special observance and recognize the numerous contributions of LGBTQIA+ individuals in the city,” Ralph said.
