Possible gang ties in Kent Station shooting last week

18-year-old injured victim remains uncooperative with police

Kent Police suspect a gang-related incident in the shooting last week at Kent Station that injured an 18-year-old man.

“We do not believe this is a random act as there are indications that this is a gang-related incident,” said Kent Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner in an email Monday about the March 11 afternoon shooting that injured a Kent man inside a store.

Officers arrested an 18-year-old Renton man and a Auburn juvenile on drug-related offenses who could be connected to the shooting, Kasner said, although nobody has been arrested for the shooting.

“A major hurdle in this case is that the victim has been uncooperative, however, we continue to follow up on leads,” Kasner said. “The connection between the two that were arrested and the man shot are unknown.”

Officers responded at about 12:40 p.m. March 11 to a report of a shooting at Kent Station, 417 Ramsay Way. The man had gunshot wounds to his arm and abdomen. Paramedics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with non-life threatening injuries. A K-9 unit helped tracked down the two who were arrested on warrants.
