Bar patrons in Kent, Renton, Auburn, Federal Way, Seatac, Burien and Tukwila should expect to see extra DUI patrols on Saturday, Sept. 1.
Approximately two dozen officers, deputies and troopers are expected to participate in the emphasis as part of the ongoing Drive Hammered, Get Nailed campaign.
Officers will visit bars to alert patrons to the extra DUI patrols as well as options to make it home safely. They will distribute Click to Ride cards, which allow patrons to scan with their smart phone to get a taxi.
A Mobile Impaired Driving Unit (MIDU) will be parked on Saturday at the Kent Police Department to process the high number of expected DUIs.
