A 55-year-old Hoquiam man died after being hit by a vehicle while standing in a lane along Highway 18 in Covington.
A vehicle driven by an 18-year-old Auburn woman was traveling westbound on SR 18 from SR 516 in lane one at about 11:16 p.m. Friday, according to the Washington State Patrol. The pedestrian was standing in lane one and the vehicle struck him. He died at the scene. Troopers closed the highway for about four hours.
Troopers ruled the cause as a pedestrian in the roadway. The State Patrol had no details about the reasons the man was walking on the highway.
