A 20-year-old woman arrested Tuesday in Colorado is expected to be extradited to Washington to face charges in a Saturday hit-and-run accident in Kent that killed a 29-year-old man walking along 132nd Avenue Southeast.
Kent Police were notified at 4:30 a.m. Saturday that a man had been struck and killed by vehicle near the 20800 block of 132nd Avenue Southeast on the East Hill, police spokesman Jarod Kasner said in an email.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday identified the victim as D’maine Dugar.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to cover memorial or funeral costs for Dugar. As of early Tuesday afternoon, more than $4,300 had been raised.
Police responded to the East Hill for a report of a single car accident. Upon arrival contact was made with the driver involved in an accident whereupon he drove off of the road. While on scene investigators discovered Dugar. The man had injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle; however further investigation revealed that the vehicle which ran off of the road was determined to be unrelated.
Police determined that the male was struck by a different car prior as he walked along the roadway. Traffic investigators determined this based off of the lack of evidence of the vehicle on scene.
Traffic investigators later located the involved suspect vehicle abandoned in the area. They were able to link the debris at the accident scene with the recovered vehicle. Upon making contact with witnesses associated to the vehicle, it was learned that the suspect fled in another vehicle and was said to possibly be traveling out of state.
The Glendale (Colo.) Police Department found the getaway vehicle and the 20-year-old woman driver suspected to be involved in the fatal accident. She was taken into custody on an unrelated crime.
