A mechanical failure in a semi-truck parked in front of a house led to a fire in the semi that extended into the home late Sunday night.
Firefighters from Puget Sound Fire and several other departments responded shortly after 11 p.m. to the 27100 block of 41 Avenue South after several neighbors reported a truck on fire.
When the first units arrived, they found the semi-truck fully engulfed in flames and fire igniting combustibles in the garage of the two-story home. Firefighters worked for approximately one hour to fully extinguish the fire.
No one was found in the home during two searches. The homeowner did arrive later and confirmed that everyone was away from the house at the time of the fire.
Red Cross was helping the family.
In addition to Puget Sound Fire, units from South King Fire and Rescue, King County Medic 1, and the Zone 3 Fire Explorers responded to the call.
