Kent woman charged with felony for anthrax hoax letter addressed to President Obama

Federal prosecutors filed charges Wednesday, April 13, against a 25-year-old Kent woman for allegedly sending an anthrax hoax letter addressed to the President Obama. The charging documents stated Kate Michelle Young sent a letter addressed to the president, "which contained white powdery substance and made a reference to 'anthrax.'" The substance was tested and found to be harmless.

Kent Police investigate attempted child luring near elementary school

Kent Police are investigating an attempted child luring that occurred just after noon Thursday. Officers were sent to Neeley O’Brien Elementary School, 6300 South 236th St., in Kent at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday after school officials notified them of the incident, according to a Kent Police media release.
