As early-morning Latter-day Saints Seminary celebrates it’s 60th year, 25 students from Kent will received a four-year seminary diploma in addition to the their high school diploma.

A crowd of more than 75 packed the Kent City Council Chambers Tuesday, June 7, after the city delivered letters to four businesses stating they were illegally dispensing medical marijuana.
The people attending the meeting came in support of the medical marijuana businesses and asked the city to allow the facilities to remain open.
Dave Mortenson likes how each year the Kent International Festival picks up the interest of more and more people.
“We’re getting a greater participation not only of people coming to it but people wanting to participate,” said Mortenson, a Kent resident and one of the event organizers. “And we’re getting a wider diversity of people participating.”
The community is invited to attend the 70th birthday party of Meridian, the oldest operating school in the Kent School District. Current and former students, teachers and staff are all invited to share memories about the school, view school memorabilia and enjoy cake, coffee and punch. Four current Meridian teachers also attended the school.
