Two men charged with stealing more than $1 million from Kent Office Depot warehouse

King County prosecutors have charged two men with seven counts of first-degree trafficking in stolen property for allegedly taking more than $1 million worth of items from the Office Depot warehouse in Kent.

In honor of World Refugee Day 2011 there will be a series of free one-hour cultural orientations at the Kent Library and the Renton Library. The orientations offer people working with refugees an opportunity to learn about diverse cultures of the newly resettled community members. The people attending the meeting came in support of the medical marijuana businesses and asked the city to allow the facilities to remain open.

Dave Mortenson likes how each year the Kent International Festival picks up the interest of more and more people. “We’re getting a greater participation not only of people coming to it but people wanting to participate,” said Mortenson, a Kent resident and one of the event organizers. “And we’re getting a wider diversity of people participating.”

Kent’s Meridian Elementary to throw 70th birthday party June 10

The community is invited to attend the 70th birthday party of Meridian, the oldest operating school in the Kent School District. Current and former students, teachers and staff are all invited to share memories about the school, view school memorabilia and enjoy cake, coffee and punch. Four current Meridian teachers also attended the school.
