A person was killed in Kent early Wednesday after a vehicle collided with a train in the area of South 212th Street and 77th Avenue South.
Kent Police officers were dispatched at about 3 a.m. to a report of a vehicle versus train collision, according to an email from Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner. A witness told officers that a vehicle stopped briefly after striking the train and then left the scene.
Officers found the vehicle a short distance away with two people inside, including a passenger with life-threatening injuries. Officers started CPR and requested paramedics to the scene but life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, Kasner said.
“Investigators are trying to determine why the driver left the scene of the collision,” Kasner said.
Kasner did not provide any other details about the collision or the people in the vehicle.
