Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of indecent exposure after he reportedly walked naked along Washington Avenue North.
Officers responded at about 5:43 p.m. Oct. 6 to a call about a naked man near the intersection of West Harrison Street and Washington Avenue North, according to the police report.
A witness told police the man took off his clothes and walked naked along the street. The witness took a video of the incident and gave it to officers as evidence.
When police arrived, the man had put his pants and T-shirt back on. The man told officers he knew it was wrong to take his clothes off in public. He said after he took off his clothes, he waited for the police to arrive.
Officers transported the man to the city jail.
Woman caught in stolen car
Police arrested a woman for investigation of vehicle trespass after stopping her at about 11:15 p.m. Oct. 7 as she drove a Dodge Neon that had been reported stolen two weeks earlier out of Renton.
An officer on patrol near the Days Inn, in the 22400 block of 84th Avenue South, saw a Dodge Neon going slowly through the lot, according to the police report. The officer noted the area is known for a high incidence of stolen cars and recovered stolen vehicles.
The driver spotted police and sped away. The officer began pursuit and followed the car into a Shell gas station in the 1200 block of Central Avenue North. The officer started to head off the car in the parking lot when the Neon driver stopped. A state Department of Licensing report showed the car had been reported stolen Sept. 23 to Renton Police.
The driver and a female passenger told officers they had no idea the car had been stolen. The passenger told police the driver planned to flee but she pleaded with her not to do that.
The driver told police her boyfriend had bought the car about six weeks ago. The car was dirty inside and loaded with clothes, many that still had tags on them. The driver initially gave police a false name and date of birth. Officers arrested her for investigation of vehicle trespass, providing a false statement and driving while license suspended.
Driver with no rear plate
Officers arrested a man for investigation of obstructing an officer after he reportedly gave police a fake name after being pulled over at about 7:34 a.m. Oct. 6 in the 12900 block of Southeast Kent Kangley Road.
An officer saw a black Ford F-150 without a rear license plate and with a temporary permit with smeared numbers, according to the police report.
The officer pulled over the pickup and checked the temporary permit which had been altered. The driver said he bought the truck a few weeks ago from the owner’s widow. The driver didn’t have a bill of sale, a driver’s license, registration or insurance.
The man initially gave a false name to police. It turned out the man had a driving while suspended as well as misdemeanor warrants out of King County and Federal Way. The man said he lied about his name because of the warrants and he didn’t have a license.
A check with the state Department of Licensing showed no record of the pickup’s vehicle identification number on file. A front license plate on the truck belonged to another vehicle that a Burien man had traded in for a new vehicle.
Man steals alcohol
Police arrested a man for investigation of third-degree theft after he allegedly stole two cans of Mike’s Hard Lemonade at about 3:27 p.m. Oct. 8 from Grocery Outlet, 23910 104th Ave. SE.
A store manager told officers the man took the two cans and made no attempt to pay for them as he exited the store, according to the police report.
An off-duty Federal Way Police officer helped stop the man outside the store. Kent Police recognized the man as a transient who frequents the area of Southeast 240th Street and 104th Avenue Southeast. Police had banned the man in March 2016 from Grocery Outlet at the request of the store manager.
“I took some beer,” the man told police. “I’m an alcoholic and homeless.”
