For the Reporter

The NFL funded East Hill Elementary School’s playground project in the NFL Play 60 DonorsChoose.org Showdown.

The NFL chose a school project in the Seattle area and one in the Denver area to feature Super Bowl weekend. The public had a chance to vote for the school they wanted the NFL to fund.

While the Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos during the Super Bowl, at the end of the Showdown, the Denver school had received more votes than East Hill. However, the NFL chose to fully fund both school projects.

In the spirit of the 12th Man, School Employees Credit Union of Washington (SECU) will be treating East Hill’s staff to lunch to celebrate, and they will donate school supplies for the students.

“We are grateful to the NFL for recognizing our students’ needs,” said East Hill Principal Daxa Thomas. “The playground equipment they have funded will go a long way toward students’ health and physical education.”
