An alert neighbor called 911 to report a house on fire in the 23400 block of 94th Avenue Southeast just before midnight on Monday in Kent.
The caller described flames seen near the basement at about 11:46 p.m. The first arriving fire engine confirmed the residential fire and upgraded the call to a working fire which triggered the addition of several more fire units to the scene, according to a Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority media release.
Firefighters from one of the engines used a fire hose to battle the blaze from the outside. The fire appeared to have been contained to the exterior of the house. Firefighters also made entry into the house to search for any occupants and the crews confirmed that no one was in the house.
The Renton Fire Department also sent fire units to the incident. King County Medic One and the Zone 3 Rehab unit were also dispatched to the fire. The power company came out to confirm there were no gas leaks at the house. Personnel on scene attempted to contact the residents of the home who were away but had no success in reaching anyone.
No injuries were reported to any firefighters. An investigator is working to determine the cause of the fire. Investigators had no damage estimate.
