The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 52-year-old Kent man fatally shot April 18 by Kent Police officers.
Dylan Wallace died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the medical examiner. Police said Wallace was armed with a circular saw.
Kent Police responded at about 1:55 p.m. to a verbal dispute at 12210 SE 259th Pl., according to a media release from the Valley Independent Investigative Team, led in this incident by the Auburn Police Department.
A female resident called 911 to report Wallace was refusing to leave the residence. She reportedly described Wallace as being intoxicated and acting erratically, ingesting gasoline and pouring it on himself, according to the media release.
Upon contact with officers, Wallace armed himself with a circular saw, according to police. Officers attempted de-escalation tactics and less-lethal measures as well as distancing themselves from Wallace.
Wallace, however, reportedly advanced on the officers with the saw, causing them to use lethal force, according to the media release.
Officers and medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but Wallace died at the scene.
More details about this incident will be released as they become available, according to Auburn Police.
The Valley Independent Investigative Team includes representatives from the Auburn, Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, Port of Seattle, Renton and Tukwila police departments. Kent is not part of this investigation because its officers were involved in the shooting.
