Five new officers recently joined the Kent Police force.
The five were sworn in by Mayor Suzette Cooke at the Oct. 21 City Council meeting after Police Chief Ken Thomas gave a brief description about each officer. They are:
• Andrew Grove
He served three years recently with the Philippine National Police as he helped lead an anti-human trafficking group. He previously served nine years with the Kent Police.
• Eric Wesson
He served 10 years in Tucson, Arizona before joining Kent for two years. He left Kent in 2011 for California to handle some family matters and has returned to Kent.
• Eli Morris
He recently served one year with the University of Washington Police.
• Kevin Strong
He served five years with the Memphis, Tenn., police and is a U.S. Army veteran.
• Jamey Hattaway
He worked two years as an officer in Alabama after 12 years in Florida.
