Man shot, killed by Kent Police identified

The man shot and killed by Kent Police has been identified as Patrick D. Reddeck, 38, of Kent.

Reddeck died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police shot Reddeck during an Oct. 12 confrontation at his home in the 400 block of Jason Avenue North. Reddeck later died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle

“We know at this time that Kent detectives, accompanied by a patrol officer, made contact with the suspect, who was armed with a handgun,” according to a police statement. “The officers fired shots and the suspect was hit.”

Police have declined to release any further information about how many shots were fired or how many shots hit the man. Police also declined to release any information about the officers involved, such as their ages and how long they have been on the force.

Detectives were at the home to serve a search warrant related to a suspicious death in August at the residence of Amy Derheim, 41, the girlfriend of Reddeck. Reddeck also lived at the house.

“We were there to serve a search warrant to retrieve computers and documents relating to fraudulent activity,” police spokesman Jarod Kasner said.

Kent Police placed the three detectives involved in the shooting on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation led by the Auburn Police.
