Kent Police are investigating the death of a 48-year-old man who reportedly was stabbed to death on Monday night in downtown Kent.
At about 8:41 p.m., patrol units responded to the 500 block of West Gowe Street for a welfare check on a man who was reported to have yelled for help, said police spokesman Jarod Kasner in an email on Tuesday.
Officers found the man unresponsive and he appeared to have been stabbed, Kasner said. Lifesaving efforts were initiated but the man died at the scene.
Detectives investigated the scene Monday night and Tuesday.
“Detectives responded to investigate the suspicious circumstances of the incident,” Kasner said. “Preliminary information indicates that there was an altercation involving the victim, however, the complete details of the incident are limited. No suspect has been identified at this time.”
Kasner said the incident does not appear to be random.
