Kent Police are looking for a suspect who fatally shot a man at about 11:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 on the East Hill near the Phoenix Court Apartments.
Officers were dispatched to the O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store in the 10400 block of Southeast 240th Street after a report of a shooting, according to a Kent Police statement. Officers found the shooting victim and started CPR. Puget Sound Fire and medics arrived to assist, but the man died at the scene.
Police did not release the man’s age or hometown. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man.
Witnesses told police that the shooting occurred in the 23900 block of 112th Avenue Southeast, on the east side of the Phoenix Court Apartments.
Early reports indicate that this was not a random incident, according to police, who did not release any information about a suspect.

12th homicide this year
The killing is the 12th homicide in the first 10 months of 2021 in Kent. The city had nine homicides in 2020, four in 2019 and seven in 2018.
