Man fatally shot in Kent; police search for suspect

A shooting early Thursday morning in Kent left one man dead and the shooter still on the loose.

The shooting occurred in the 22200 block of 84th Avenue South, according to a Kent Police media release. Preliminary information suggests that this incident is specific to the parties involved.

At 8:03 a.m., officers responded to witnesses that reported to police that a man had shot another man. Officers were on the scene within moments and discovered that the shooter had already fled and left the scene in a silver or gray four-door sedan.

Officers searched the area for the suspect but did not find him. The suspect and believed driver of the sedan were caught on surveillance video. (Photos are posted here below the story).

Police investigators are working to identify the involved suspects and police said they are confident that the public can assist. Anyone with information regarding this incident should call 911 or the Kent Police Department tip line at 253-856-5808.

The shooting death is the 10th homicide in Kent this year, four more than last year. Kent had five homicides in 2015, four in 2014, three in 2013 and two in 2012.

Kent is the sixth largest city in Washington with a population of more than 120,000.
