An 18-year-old Auburn man fatally shot Thursday morning by a deputy at the Kent Station parking garage has been identified as Jesus Hernandez-Murillo.
Hernandez-Murillo died from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office media report on Friday.
The teen reportedly reached for a rifle when a King County Sheriff’s Office deputy working for Sound Transit approached him as he sat in the driver’s seat of a stolen Honda Civic parked on the first floor of the garage used by Sounder train commuters as well as customers of the nearby shopping center, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy and Hernandez-Murillo struggled inside and outside of the vehicle before the deputy shot him. No other shots were reportedly fired.
