A man reportedly bit a King County corrections officer on the hand during a dispute in the jail visitors area at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent.
Police responded to an assist call from the county jail and found corrections officers had a man in handcuffs at about 10:08 p.m. on June 4 at 620 W. James St., according to the police report. Police arrested the man for investigation of fourth-degree assault.
A second corrections officer fired a Taser at the man and hit him twice with darts to help the first officer detain the man. The man showed up at the jail to put money in the account of his brother, an inmate at the facility. The man reportedly became upset and started to yell at the corrections officer when told the visitors area had closed and he needed to leave the property.
The guard told the man to take his hands out of his pockets and the man allegedly didn’t comply with the command, so the officer grabbed his arms to begin to escort him off the property. The man apparently responded by struggling with the officer and bit him on the hand.
Man caught with drugs
Police arrested a man for investigation of obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 11:50 p.m. on June 3 in the 23200 block of Pacific Highway South on the West Hill.
An officer, on patrol in the area because of recent commercial burglaries, spotted a man walking near the Cash American Pawn shop, which had closed for the day. The officer lost sight of the man for a moment and then saw him running after the man spotted the patrol vehicle.
The officer stopped the man nearby. The man had his hands in his pockets, so the officer demanded he take his hands out of his pockets, according to the police report. The man reportedly failed to cooperate, so the officer decided to handcuff him to make it easier to frisk him. During a search, the officer found a glass pipe, foil, straws and pens in the man’s possession. The officer noted all of the items are used to smoke drugs.
The man told police he was high on meth. He said he put his hands in his pockets to try to remove the drug items. He denied trying to break into the pawn shop. He said he was just looking for cigarette butts near the business.
Woman won’t let officers inside
Police arrested a woman for investigation of obstructing an officer after she allegedly refused to let officers enter her apartment as they responded to a possible domestic dispute at about 11:43 p.m. June 2 at the Swiss Gable Apartments, 25320 Lake Fenwick Road S.
A witness reported hearing a man pounding on an apartment door and arguing with a woman inside, according to the police report. The man then climbed up on the balcony to try to get inside.
When officers arrived at the apartment, the woman yelled at them to leave. They told her they had to investigate a domestic dispute report. She slammed the door once as officers talked to her and then she opened the door slightly but tried to hold it close as officers pushed their way inside.
Police located the man outside the apartment. Two children of the man and woman were inside the apartment. Officers didn’t arrest the man because he cooperated with them.
Man chokes girlfriend
Officers arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault and possession of drug paraphernalia after responding at about 12:02 p.m. June 1 to a dispute in the 400 block of Ramsay Way.
A witness reported seeing a man choking a woman along the street, according to the police report. Officers found the pair at Kaibara Park, near the Kent Library.
The woman said she had argued with her boyfriend but denied anything else happened. Officers noted she had a bruise on her neck. The boyfriend denied choking her.
Officers found a small amount of heroin in a plastic baggie, a burnt straw and foil in the man’s possession.
