A 37-year-old man was arrested and three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident late Wednesday night in Kent following a brief police pursuit.
At about 10:47 p.m., a Kent Police officer attempted to pull over a Nissan SUV, but the driver failed to stop, instead leading the officer on brief pursuit, Kent Police Department spokeswoman Melanie Robinson said in an email.
The driver of the Nissan headed westbound on West James Street and ran a red light at the intersection of 64th Avenue South, hitting a Ford Focus traveling southbound on 64th Avenue, Robinson said.
The driver of the Nissan fled on foot, but was arrested a short time later on several charges, including hit and run, vehicular assault and eluding police, according to Robinson.
Passengers in the Nissan – a 43-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man – as well as a 46-year-old man who was driving the Ford Focus were seriously injured and transported to Haborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Robinson did not know the extent of their injuries or their conditions on Thursday afternoon.
