One man was found dead in a Des Moines garage early Friday morning, according to police.
At about 12:24 a.m. Sept. 17, Des Moines officers responded to the 26000 block of Woodmont Drive South for a report of a shooting, according to Sgt. Scott Oak, a Special Investigations Unit detective.
Upon arrival, officers found a deceased man lying in the garage of the residence, Oak said. The 41-year-old man appeared to have a penetrating wound to the chest.
South King Fire and Rescue crews and officers attempted to revive the man on scene, but were unsuccessful.
“We are investigating this death as a homicide,” Oak said. The injury to the man’s chest looks different than most gunshot wounds, he said, so the department is waiting for the King County Medical Examiner’s Office to report the official cause of death.
A 33-year-old woman with outstanding warrants was arrested. There is no specific danger to the community as a result of the shooting, Oak said.
Des Moines Police detectives are processing the scene, conducting interviews and continuing to investigate.
