New, lower Sounder train fares for ORCA Lift (low-income adult) passengers, youth (ages 6-18) and Regional Reduced Fare Permit holders (seniors age 65-plus and riders with disabilities) begin Monday, March 1.
These fares for the regional commuter rail now align with the ORCA Lift, youth and reduced permit holders fares found on other Sound Transit services like ST Express busses and Link light rail.
The one-way fares for Orca Lift and youth will be $1.50. Senior/disabled one-way fares will be $1. Previous fares for Orca Lift, youth and seniors ranged from $2.50 to $4.25 each way depending on the distance traveled.
There is no change to regular adult one-way fares, which range between $3.25 and $5.75 depending on the distance traveled.
Sounder South trains (Lakewood/Tacoma–Seattle) make weekday round trips serving Lakewood, South Tacoma, Tacoma Dome, Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent, Tukwila and Seattle. Trains run during weekday peak hours with limited reverse commute and mid-day service.
