Fans will get a free preview next week of the Seattle Mist, a new women’s Lingerie Football League team that will play two games this fall in Kent.
The Mist will conduct a minicamp from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22 at the Starfire Sports Complex, 14800 Starfire Way, in Tukwila.
Fans will get a chance to meet the team and watch the players go through various offensive, defensive and special teams drills, according to a league media release.
Lingerie Football League officials announced last month that the Mist would play games Sept. 11, 2009 and Jan. 1, 2010 at the ShoWare Center in Kent in the league’s inaugural season.
The league features scantily clad women playing seven-on-seven tackle football on a 50-yard field. Each offense will have a quarterback, center, two running backs and three receivers.
The players expected to be at the minicamp include quarterback Alicia McLaughlin, running back Michelle Selover and linebackers Shannon Sypher and Maggie Pearson.
“We have a lot of naturally gifted athletes on this team with great speed and tenacity, which should make for some compelling football this fall,” said Seattle Mist coach Rob Long in the media release. “We want our fans, the eighth man and woman, to really get behind us.”
The Mist opens the season Sept. 11 against the San Diego Seduction.
