Dated Dec. 16: Today, we received a report that at approximately 7:00 AM this morning, a female KM student was grabbed by a white male as she walked to school via the bike trail located
in the city-owned wooded area north of the school and French Field. The student described the subject as being in his mid-thirties, about six feet tall, skinny, and naked
from the waist down. The student said that as she walked along the trail, the subject jumped out from behind a bush and grabbed her. She broke free and went directly to
the school and reported the incident to a teacher and Safety Services. Kent Police were contacted and detectives are aggressively working the case. As of this time, no
one has been arrested.
We’ve alerted our staff, increased visibility of our security personnel, and reminded
our students of the importance of following safe routes between classes and to and
from school. Please take some time to review with your children precautions they
should remember to stay safe at all times.
• Tell an adult immediately if they see someone or something that makes them
worry or feel uncomfortable.
• Stay with friends. Don’t travel alone.
• Always stay in well-supervised areas.
Student safety is our first priority. If you have any information that will help police in
their investigation, call 911 or K-M Safety Services at 253-373-4023. We will make sure
the information is shared with the investigating detectives.
Sincerely,
Dr. Wade R. Barringer
Principal
